Rajah Samaroo
Director, Cinematographer, Editor, Writer

As a child of the tropics growing up in 80's, Rajah Samaroo, had always taken a fascination
to American action films. Since coming over to the United States in the 90's, he had always been writing film scripts and story lines that he never expected would see the light of day. It was
not until High Definition technology started to permeate the pro-consumer market did Rajah
embark into the realm of independent Sci-Fi film production with his senior thesis film, West
Run. The new cameras gave him the tools to jump start his cinematic passion.

Since he graduated from Mass Art in 2007, Rajah Samaroo continues to develop a unique
style of directing. His keenest interest lies in telling stories born out of the mythology of the
digital revolution. He considers himself a "cyberpunk" film director. Movies like Bladerunner,
Hackers, Swordfish, and the Matrix fall in this sub-genre. He admires what Director James
Cameron can do on a big budget with films such as Avatar and the Terminator but Rajah is
looking to find his niche in the low budget sci-fi realm where charming titles such as Moon,
Cube, Primer and Avalon were created.

Rajah Samaroo currently works as a freelance Director, Cinematographer, and Editor in New
England, Arizona, and New York. He is also the main Video Producer at RI Video Production
where a collective of video professionals produce affordable promotional videos for local RI
Artists and Small Businesses. New Englanders will soon get a chance to see the latest collection of his work in a show that will pull together his latest work including The Happy Machine and Nuclear Ride.
